The Little Town That Was
If you grew up there keep it in a special place where your best memories are cherished. Things do change and it exists no more. A recent attempt to officially name the new bridge for J.A. Stegall was fully rejected by the Board of Supervisors. Every supervisor voted against it - surely a missed opportunity of large proportions. But then we said "officially". No matter the vote, no matter the petty bickering and manipulation, every time we cross the bridge Mr. Stegall will come "unofficially" to mind. It will always be the Stegall bridge to us for he was larger than life and lives on in our hearts. We extend a special thank you to B.J. Carter and Benny Shires for their generous efforts in trying to do the right thing.
