You've
no doubt heard of James Ewell Brown Stuart. My high school history teacher, Jean
Fuller, use to let that name roll reverently across her lips. Mrs. Jean was really
into the War Between the States and if you slipped and called it the Civil War
you were forever on her bad list. I think she didn't live to know Tom Perry but
how she would have cherished him. Tom grew up in Patrick County and as a young
boy became intensely interested in J.E.B. Stuart. He became so interested that
J.E.B. became his life project and restoring Stuart's home at Laurel Hill near
Ararat was the product of that interest. MORE
